can't see external hard drive

I have a 300 gig external drive that has worked fine for the past year. The icon for the drive no longer shows up on my desk top or in finder. It does show up in disk utilities, and I can un-mount and eject. But I have no way to read or write to the drive.

Anybody have any sugestions?
