CarPlay Car Play sound quality

For many years I have been using my ipod, iphone and ipad by connecting with Airport Express wirelessly to my HiFi system and playing songs recorded in apple lossless format over Airplay. The sound quality is excellent. I want to invest in Car Play but I would like to know that when my iphone connects to my car speaker system over CarPlay and when playing music recorded in Apple Lossless format whether I will get the same excellent sound quality which I get with Airplay and Airport Express at home.

There are variables between head units obviously. The minimum requirements are 48khz 16bit stereo. Wired is LPCM and wireless is AAC-LC and AAC-ELD or OPUS. Quality is maintained via wireless because the HU and iPhone use a BT connection as a handshake and to establish a 5ghz wifi connection. After that the BT disconnections from the HU.
