Made some custom Apple-related boot screens for my Alpine iLX-107.
The images need to be 800x480 and in BMP format. A number of programs can save to BMP...Photoshop, Affinity Photo...heck, even the olde Windows Paint.
A Flash drive is used to upload the file to the Alpine. The file must be named openingfile.bmp placed in a folder called OPENINGFILE. The drive name can be anything.
With the radio up and running connect the flash drive. If everything is correct you'll get a message about changing the screen. If not you'll get and error about the drive not being compatible. However you'll get the same error message even if there's a problem with the file.
I had trouble with it at first. Found out the Alpine didn't like my old Transcend drives. A bit of searching and I found the radios can be picky. Sandisk seemed to be the most reliable. Went to Best Buy and picked up a cheap SanDisk 16GB Cruser Glide. It worked just fine. A PNY 16GB drive worked too.
Here are some which are directly linked to correctly sized BMP files. Download and use if you like.
Edit: The linked BMP images looked okay when I did the message, but the images were broken when posted. Oh well, here are the direct links for now...
