CarPlay CarPlay & Text Messages Question

Hi all, while using CarPlay with iPhone 7, iOS 11.1 (15B93) when I receive a text message I only have the option to have the text read out by Siri, is there a way to actually see the text message?

I understand the whole safety issue with reading texts on screen but when my car is parked Id like to have this option?

No display of text on CarPlay. It is for "eyes on the road reading" only. Android Auto is (basically) the same.
