I'm opposed to all debt and have historically just paid for my iPhone's outright rather than leverage the carrier "specials".

My plan is to upgrade from my currently paid for iPhone 11 and get the new iPhone 14 Pro.

Apple is offering $220 for the old one and I'd just fork over the difference for the new phone.

I'm on T-Mobile and have been grandfathered into the old unlimited plan.

Is there any reason not to do this? The "credits" thing feels like a gimmick and I'm likely better off just buying the phone and not pretending that cellular providers are in the business of giving discounts on these devices (rather they just spread out the cost over a longer period of time and work to lock you into their service).

Am I missing something?
