I fitted a new battery off eBay (not original) for my iPhone 5s but it keeps switching off randomly and shows 1% even though its fully charged. What does the battery app mean ?

The battery app suggests that a full charge is only giving you 100mAh, less than 10% of the battery's new capacity, meaning that, most likely, the battery you bought off eBay was a dud.

I charged it whilst turned off for 4 hrs and got about 4 days out of it on standby. Its just that it keeps turning off randomly ?

Does it need calibrating or something ?

Sorry, I've reached the limits of my battery knowledge! All I can tell you from that Coconut reading is that at maximum charge, the battery is holding just 100mAh, when at new it should hold over 1,500. So around 6% of its originally capacity... which seems mad.

But I don't know if a recalibration would help it show more accurately or whether the battery itself is just a wreck. It seems an unlikely reading tbh, but all I can compare it to is my 3.5-year-old iPhone 8 Plus which showing at 83% of its original battery capacity.

Someone else will have to give you more information I'm afraid.

that phone is going on 7 years old. Ive never had any Apple device run reliably after that many years. Some people have obviously - but all my gear wears out by then
