Hello, a young relative has bought a Hama USB 3.1 Type-C Hub 00135755 to be used on a MacBook Air 2019 (MacBookAir8,2). I don't know and I can't find any information about the possibility of charging the MacBook through the hub. Is it possible? I mean connecting the hub to the MacBook and the charger to the hub. Is it dangerous, can something happen? The other Thunderbolt port on the MacBook is used constantly for an external SSD.

It's not a good idea to use an USB hub connected to a charger; it may damage something ...

The SSD is Samsung's MU-PA500B and supports USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gbps). As the hub supports only USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5Gbps), the SSD has to be connected directly to get the full speed.

In case anyone else has this question, I asked the manufacturer and they said it can not be used for charging.
