Just want to get a cheap gaming laptop for older games.

I've been getting into PC gaming lately with GOG and Steam with the lower prices (I play the new stuff on consoles with a hand controller).

I'm getting a cheap one to take to shows for our Aviation Shop to demo Flight Simulator as well so something cheap that breaks or gets stolen is no great loss.

I am thinking about the 15" Asus or Acer, the Asus having a keypad with the keyboard whereas the Acer just has a roomier standard keyboard.

Is the keypad used a lot as more functions in a lot of PC games?

Thanks...

Hey,
I have a older Asus G73 that I love...anyway, I think your idea is sound.

I think for newer games, definitely, with the "consolification" & such, the number keypad is not used (although with the Witcher 3, that is what I have bombs set for).

With older games that are more keyboard control oriented, they may use the keypad, except I can't name any off hand.

You didn't ask, but re: Asus vs. Acer, I have usually heard great things about the Asus build quality, and some not so great things about Acer...ymmv.
