EDIT: All gone!

I figured that I would post this in here before the Marketplace, since I am just seeing what you guys think of these laptops!

I have a PowerBook 540c with OS 7.6.1 and a 5300(c?) with OS 7.6.1 as well.

What do these usually retail for nowadays? I haven't really played with them and want to get rid of them before I go off to college.

Never Had a 5300, went 1400 [which replaced the 540] to a Wallstreet. My 540c replaced my 150!!! Still have em all. The 150 outlived it's usefulness before it was released!! but the 540 will still browse [slowly] and do emergency back-up service... heck the batteries still work!! I think I will study the 5300 to see what I missed!!! MV

You could study mine up close and personal for next to nothing, since I want it to go to a good collector before I move off to college.

I'm not really a collector, but I've found a bunch of old mac software laying around, and I would love to have the 5300.

Did the 5300 come after the 1400? If so, why are the 1400's faster?!

ITASOR: Feel more than free to take that 5300 off my hands :)

While the processor speed may only be 16MHz slower than the 1400c, I believe that the 5300 had little to no L2 cache, which can make OS 9 pretty slow. Any 7 or 8 OS is better on there.

540c has been sold, I am awaiting my money order for like $27 (which includes shipping)

Thanks Eric, I thought more about it and I think I'm going to let someone who would get more use out of it take it. Thanks again!

Hey, that's totally cool! Nice of you to let it go to a collector who would find some more sentiment or something out of it. :)

So, this is still available. Within the next week it will be going on the standard Marketplace if no one really wants it here.

Well, since you live in the next state... I might be interested in the 5300 since I never had one.

Already have like five 500 series though...

What exactly 5300 is it?

Aw man, I'm sorry. It was easy and I traded it away to MacEfan since I am out of town and haven't been able to check :(

I do believe it was a 5300c, though. He seems to be the biggest collector, next to macg4 (no wonder I get those two mixed up...).

Maybe when he is done tinkering he will want to share it with the rest of the people here :)

I don't know about being the biggest collector.. I know many people that have 3x more machines than I do.. but I do have quite a nice collection after 5 years of garage/cragsist/ebay/macrumors purchases

yeah, sorry about the laptop dpaanlka, I'll take good care of it, don't worry:)

and yes, if I have extra machines or duplicates I always usually pass them on to someone for cheap...

anyone want a PM 7500 for $1 + shipping?

EDIT mxlews claimed it :p
