Hi,

Have a several year old phone.
Think it's a 6R or maybe a 6S.

Irrespective of what compass APP I try, and I have tried a bunch, none
show North anywhere near where it should be. This includes Apple's compass too.

Anyone else experiencing these problems; a glitch in the Apple
magnetic sensors perhaps ?

What's even more interesting, some of the newer APPs imply they are deriving
the compass heading they show via GPS data (solely).
These are also wrong; all of them.

Have tried rotating the phone, etc.
Case has a flap that is held magneticly at its edge, but this does not seem
to influence anything. But maybe. Would be a big hassle to remove phone from case.
Moving the flap to its extremes has no effect on what Heading is displayed.

Any thoughts on would be appreciated.

Regards,
Bob

Have you not even tried to take the phone out of the case? Surely that’s the first thing to try? And it’s a 6S, not a 6R, no such thing

Hi,
Thanks for reply.
Phone is Very tight in case, so my reluctance to
try and remove it.

But- if any APP uses GPS data for heading, any extraneous magnetic fields should have absoluely no effect on any reading (as contrasted to a magnetic sensor/compass).

Right ?
