I'm trying to see what I'm doing wrong in this process and I can't figure it out
I have a 2015 27 iMac with a 2GB R9 M380 graphics card
It's running MacOS Catalina
I am trying to connect this iMac to an LG Ultrafine 5K 27MD5KL monitor
Documentation says this should work with an Apple OEM USBC to Thunderbolt 2 adapter and a Thunderbolt 2 cable
I have both of these and I am still having trouble getting the monitor to work with the iMac

I know the monitor works, I use it with my iPad via USBC
I know the Thunderbolt ports on the desktop work, I use them with my Cinema monitor
I know the iMac is new enough to work, because I've seen videos online of the 2013 Mac Pro connecting to this monitor, and my 2015 iMac is a bit newer than that.

Is there anything I'm not thinking of that could be causing this not to work? The last thing that I can think of is updating the OS, but I don't want to do that unless I'm absolutely sure it will fix the issue...
