How can I convert an AVI video so I can edit it in imovie??? is there a free application I can download???
when I try to import it now it just shuts down....help! thankyou!:confused:

Google: Divx Doctor 2. It's a free AVI to MOV converter that I've used. You'll need the 3ivx codec though - read up on the Divx Doctor 2 website. I've had the same exact problem where Quicktime doesn't ever read AVI's, it just shows a white screen and freezes.

Google ffmpegx. It's free (asks for donation though) and will convert for you. I use it to convert files from HDD and DVD camcorders for use in iMovie, and I've converted AVI files from digital cameras with movie mode as well.
