I stumbled across the following sight while doing a google search for the Macintosh Startup sound. The article describes Jim Reeks an early Apple sound engineer that created many of the famous Classic (and some current) apple startup sounds.

One thing I question however, is the note that MacTracker and this article claim that the current startup sound is in C Major, isn't it actually a G Chord currently? I thought the C Major was on my beloved Quadra 840av and later 660av.
Anyway, below is a link taken from the article of an MP3 featuring the famous apple Startup sound as the background track. The song is quite good, and for Techno / Electronic lovers like myself, it is quite good!
