I have both TechTool Pro and Superduper, but both will only copy a 'volume'.

I want to move my downloads folder which is 230gb to another drive.
Are there any options short of copy/paste.
Looking for an App which lets you copy a folder.

I just know it's gonna take about 90 mins to copy, so a bit reluctant to copy/paste.

In the middle of several books.
Take a look at Forklift by Panic. They offer a free 14 day trial. Great app and it can transfer folders.

I don’t understand the reluctance to just use Finder to copy the data. For some testing I was recently doing I copied about 2.5tb of data to another drive without a hiccup. It did take overnight.

It goes back about 16 years....... ?
Migrated from G4..G5...to Macpro.
I literally never delete anything.

The joy of tower Mac's, keep adding storage.
Just ordered another ssd for copying to.

So, do you ever go into this 16-year-old archive to retrieve anything?
Anything recent would still be available to download again, of course.

Ok I have copied my downloads folder to new drive (60 mins copy time).
Deleted files from system drive, but left this years DL's in default folder, emptied trash, even restarted, but disk used size has not changed..... ?

Do you need to rebuild spotlight maybe?

Update: I have given up on this (damn APFS junk). Wiped my drive and restored a backup.
May get a bigger drive at some point, seems easier.

Luckily I did a clone before deleting data.
Normally I wouldn't even consider a backup before removing stuff.... ?

Update:
Patience is a virtue apparently.
I started moving/copying small chunks of data to the new drive, it seems to take about 48 hours for the ssd to re-show the free space (garbage collection or something... ?).

So all is good.....;)
I imagine the larger amount of data you move, the longer it would take to update size free.
