Considering Apple TV runs on an iPhone processor, it would be nice if Apple TV could have a usb-c port for power and/or video in lieu of the ac adapter port. The HDMI port can stay, but if there are any displays that can accept a usb-c cable, then the Apple TV could be entirely powered over that connection and eliminate the need for a power cord, and if not, the usb-c cable can be plugged into a wall outlet to power the unit and connect to HDMI as normal.

It is doubtful any current TV's USB port could power an Apple TV 4K so that will not happen unless Apple decides to release a low power dongle Apple TV device.

You are expecting Apple to give you options? That's cute. Not. Going. To. Happen.

They do give us options now with MacBooks to charge over usb-c or MagSafe. Same with iPhones too. Even the iPad Pros via Magic Keyboard can charge via the Smart Connector or directly over usb-c.

All of those are devices with batteries that can be used with and without external power. The Apple TV never moves once you put it next to your tv so they included the power supply inside the device. It is highly unlikely that will ever change.
