Out of curiosity i tried to get n idea about the CPU usage playing Diablo 3 under Mac OS on one of my Mac Pros.
It's a cMP 4,1>5,1 with Mojave natively installed (no OC) .
-X5675 single CPU
-24GB 1333 mHz RAM
-Samsung 970 EVO blade
-GTX 780 TI
-Dell S2719DM 1440p

I'm working on a watercooled setup with a Vega 56/64 , but was wondering if it makes sense to replace the CPU for a X5690 or just install the CPU tray from another MP 4,1>5,1 with DUAL X5690.

I cant seem to figure out if D3 is only using single core or multiple core CPU neither could I find something googling it.
I checked Activity monitor while gaming, but it only shows ~ 15% CPU load...
I'd be very thankful if somebody could shed some light on this Topic.

Thx a lot!

It used to be capped at four cores from what I remember, unless that changed with a patch and I missed it. Have not played it recently.

I appreciate your respons!
Then I guess it wont be much of a difference to replace the CPU or swap the dual tray in .

No service
Run the freeware XRG system monitoring utility to see if each CPU thread is busy.

Activity Monitor can also display individual core usage via the CPU Usage and CPU History windows (Command-1 and Command-2 respectively).

Many games do not take full advantage of multi-threaded processing especially older titles like Diablo 3.

Thx for the info, i'll install XRG and do some testing :)

EDIT:Just did,in case someone likes to see this, here are some screenshots , as far as i understand, surprisingly (to me) the GTX is not running on it's limit (at 1440p) but the RAM usage and disk I/O (NVMe) peaks are higher then i expected .
CPU usage seems to be 6 cores all the time .
