Cube speakers on ADC 17" Studio Display LCD?

How come the volume is down so low on these cube speakers on a 17" Studio Display LCD off a mac mini?

Do I really need the cube to run these speakers right? I thought I read on Apple's website that all you needed was the old time LCD Studio Display with usb ports in the back off its ADC connection...

This is way late, sorry about that.

Just a shot in the dark, but the Cube speakers might not be getting enough power from the ADC ports, resulting in a lower volume. I know that the speakers cannot run off the USB ports on an Apple Pro Keyboard as it does not supply enough power.

Have you received any "low power" warnings when you plug them in?
