what would you opt for given these choices, both in new condition?

black macbook 2.4 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 250 HD - $1,400.00 (latest model)

black macbook 2.2 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 160 HD - $1,200.00 (previous model)

I'd say the cheaper one, I heard the performance bump is not that significant although you should upgrade the RAM anyways by yourself. Good luck choosing!

I would go for the upgrade. Processor upgrade, ram upgrade and harddrive upgrade for $200 extra is pretty well worth it.

Hold The Presses!!!!

so it's actually more like:

2.4 GHz, 2 GB, 250 HD - $1,400.00

vs.

2.2 GHz, 2 GB, 160 HD - $1,200.00

both new.

dumb question...why not get the previous model refurbished? $1049.00 right now w/ your initial specs

MA state tax

Throw in MA state tax, which Apple would charge me, and it's actually $1,100 (refurbished model).

I'd rather get a new black macbook for $1,200, last model I posted about, with no state tax from amazon.

What would the 160 HD size actually be GB wise upon arrival? I'm guessing 145 GB?

I bought the last model for $1200 and I love it, don't regret it at all. Mine only had 1gb RAM too which i upgraded, so the 2 is a bonus for you :) Oh, and my HDD ends up about 148gb.

Considering you have 2gb of ram, I would now change my recommendation to the $1200 one. Harddrive upgrades aren't much for me after they reach that high of a capacity (150+), and a processor upgrade for $200 won't do to much. RAM is probably the most important factor for me.

Would you guys buy the Santa Rosa Blackbook for 999? This is a brand new machine with tax of course.
