Is there a way to subscribe only to RSS feed specific to category?
For example feed with only entries related to particular device (like https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/macbook-pro/#macbook-pro-timeline)? There is https://feeds.macrumors.com/MacRumors-Mac (see "-Mac" suffix) but it seems to only have "Deals" entries (which are kinda useless for me) and nothing technical related to Macs. You have help entry about that (https://macrumors.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201096058-Where-are-the-RSS-feeds-) but it seems to point to the same link I already got.

Or maybe it's the issue with filtering of "Mac" section in the feed?

no, but what specifically would you want filtered for?

Speaking from my perspective: I would love to only see MBP and macOS news only. I don't care about iPhone and even more - I'm utterly annoyed with "discount entries". I don't buy things on a weekly basis nor I'm prompt to buy them because they are on sale...

I've just come across this thread whilst searching for an old post of my own. Try the following website -

Here's an example -
Enter the feed address - https://feeds.macrumors.com/MacRumors-All
I want to include items where the title contains macOS
Feed me!

Here's my original post -

Well, I run my own miniflux instance, which has filtering (with regexp) capabilities but unfortunately using keywords is error prone. For example:
"New deals on MacBooks!"
"Apple deals with MacBook power issue"

Thus having feeds per categories or including them in the feed payload would be great.

Regrettably, fewer websites seem to be offering specific feeds and I don’t see that changing. The RSS symbol appears to be disappearing.

I agree that filters aren’t infallible, but they are a way of making some sense of the current situation. Anyway, it might help someone else viewing this thread.

I'm not sure about that. But maybe it's the fact that I'm mostly browsing tech-related websites thus higher chances of knowing about RSS. And if I run into a website without RSS then I contact the owner and they usually add it.
Though, it's the problem with the people - they usually are clueless so "mail is bad because I subscribed to million newsletters and now can't get regular mail" and "RSS is bad because I subscribed to million feeds and can't get what I want" thus "social media is awesome because TheAlgorithm filters things out"... and then they are surprised they missed something because of TheAlgorithm... sorry for the rant ;-)

Definitely it can and it's appreciated. Though, it would be awesome if owners of MR would add categories still ;-)

I’ve just returned to the iPad and am currently setting up my rss reader. My main requirements are to avoid information overload and ad-saturated websites (I don’t mind some ads, but some websites are ridiculous). This is a process that I’ve gone through several times over the last few years.

My experience is that it’s harder to find feeds these days. The links are no longer shown prominently on a lot of websites.

Feeds are more generalised, which is what I mean when I say that websites are offering less specific feeds. For example, I might want to follow a specific sports journalist. In the past, I could do that, but now I’m required to follow the feed for the sport that they cover.

I also see that the Apple News app no longer supports rss feeds. It’s not something I’ve used in the past but I was going to try it.

When I first came across rss, I remember thinking that you had to put a bit of effort in to get the best out of it, but it's even more difficult these days.
