dead superdrive ?

Hello this is my first post. I have a pioneer DVR-111DBK superdrive in my G4 Digital Audio running OSX 10.1 and the damn thing wont read ANY discs. I have tried changing the jumpers on the rear and I have tried to load OS 8.5 as a test but nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
