Anyone delaying iPadOS 17 until January? This would allow Apple & 3rd party devs to stamp out any further bugs.

I am lazy updater. So yes, I will delay the update until I have to (due to software compatibility or major security issue).

I got tired of waiting so installed iOS 17, works great.
Haven't bit the bullet on the phone yet tho, still running 16.7.1 (soon 16.7.2).

Wth 15 to 16, I waited until June. The way 17 is rolling out, it will be September or skip.

I'm downloading 16.7.2 on an iPad Pro 11" and two iPad Pros 10.5s and 12PM at the moment.

I don't usually update at first release as with the 17 and others before it there were several bugs that needed updates soon thereafter.

iPad OS 17 runs fine on all of the devices i've tried.
The only let down, in terms of performance I've had so far is my fathers iPad pro 9.7 and iOS 16.
Batteries fine but compared to iOS 15 it feels a tad bit slower with Safari taking a few ms longer to start.

Now its fairly filled with crap apps so it could prob be wiped and reinstalled, but still. iOS was running better on that device. Wouldn't recommend anyone sticking around on older OS these days but still something worth knowing.

Turning off animated backgrounds, background sync and so on seem to have improved the performance somewhat.

A lot of complaints on 1st-gen iPad Pros in terms of both performance and battery life. Apple obliterated all pre-A12 devices on all terms and A12 devices onwards in terms of battery life, but yeah, the 1st-gen and 2nd-gen Pros have been severely affected.

Luckily I’ve managed to keep my 9.7-inch iPad Pro on iOS 12 (even if it was originally forced by Apple from iOS 9... glass half-full).
