Howdy folks,
The goal is to install an OS (10.0-10.13 but I'm currently working on 10.4) and install all available updates.
Then the whole system drive will be cloned to another drive, or a disk image.
The existing user I had to setup to do all the updates etc has to be removed, along with the .applesetupdone file so that what remains is a blank OS, fully updated, that I can restore to any machine I want.
Manually deleting the user folder along with the .applesetupdone file, triggers the setup assistant but I am unable to set up a user account with the previously used name. Even though the user folder is gone, there's another place where that user still exists.
I used to do this without thinking but it's been so long... I have no idea anymore how to pull it off.
Tried several terminal commands and suggestions from random websites but am getting nowhere.
Anyone here with a better memory than I have that can help me solve this puzzle?
Thanks!
