iPhone 12 Pro Max Did they improve mic on iPhone 12" Pro Max?

I upgraded from iPhone X and just used the 12Pm to record someone talking in a pretty noisy environment. The sound of the person talking was way louded/clearer than expected. Just wondering if they did something to the mic. I usually use a Shure MV88 to record interview and so I was suprised at how it came out with onboard mic.
