I see a lot of people mentioning that getting a pre-paid SIM from Verizon is near impossible (resorting in going to eBay) and that they will try to force you onto a post-paid plan. Why does it matter, why are pre-paid plans so much better then post-paid?

Nothing wrong with postpaid but the barrier to entry is higher. Also, it's a lot easier to cancel a prepaid account than a postpaid one even if the postpaid is month to month. On prepaid, go to Settings, Cellular Data, View Account, Cancel, Delete Later (VZ SIM remains active for up to 5 months without paid service). On postpaid, prepare for at least a 1-hour call to Verizon customer service.

Prepaid:
$20: 1GB
$30: 2GB
$50: 5GB

Postpaid:
$30+10: 4GB
$40+10: 6GB
$50+10: 8GB
$60+10: 10GB
$70+10: 12GB
$80+10: 14GB

If you constantly need data and use a lot of it, go postpaid. If you only need data intermittently or don't need a lot of it, prepaid is better.
