Digital Performer - Takefiles - Need Help

I'm teaching a class in Digital Performer in a lab that is shared with the Art Department. Periodically students get a message that an audio track cannot be record enabled because of something to do with "takefiles." Sometimes the student hasn't recorded any audio yet, just setting up to record and the message comes up. Sometimes it's after a student has recorded a couple of audio tracks. These are short projects (under 3 minutes) with mostly MIDI tracks so far. I can't find anything about error messages and what to do - HELP. Thanks.
