Disable, mute or turn off startup ring chime

HI,

I AM UNDER THE IMPRESSION MY EL CAPITAN OPERATING SYSTEM CANNOT DISABLE, MUTE OR TURN OFF MAC'S STARTUP RING CHIME. AM I MISTAKEN?

I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING FROM MUTE TO TERMINAL CODES. NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK.

HOWEVER, THROUGH RESEARCH, I'VE DISCOVERED THAT OTHER OPERATING SYSTEMS
HAVE SOLUTIONS THAT WORK FOR THEIR OPERATING SYSTEMS. NO PROBLEM.

IS IT EL CAPITAN OR ME?

mine does follow the last restart's volume/mute setting.

It's you. Download and install "StartNinja" a free app that you can use to control the startup chime. Either that, or buy a new Mac; new Macs no longer chime.
