Today, while running VLC, my mac mini had a 1 sec freeze then resumed playing the media file. I noticed though that after the freeze the screen had changed into 2 different brightnesses with a clear line down the middle showing the difference between the two. The left side is light while the right side is dark. It is in no way unusable but very very annoying.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Have you rebooted?

Which mac mini?

What screen are you using?

How is this connected to the mini (ie DVI or mDP)?

Here are the stats from the "about my mac"

Model Name: Mac mini
Model Identifier: Macmini2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz

I'm using an LG monitor that i bought (LG FLATRON W1943SB-PF)

I don't know how its connected (on the back it says D-Sub (it's the standard monitor lead I used on my old PC and for every PC i have had in the last 10 years, so I guess it's pretty standard but not very new).

I tried rebooting but it didn't work. I played around with the monitor setting but that didn't work.

I don't have the installation CDs with me as I live in Italy now and they are in Britain so a way of fixing without reinstalling would be ideal.
