The newest Apple Bluetooth trackpad is the version that has force touch.

I currently have the previous version Apple trackpad; i.e. the one that uses batteries. Will this work with my iPad when 13.4 is released next week? Or must I use and purchase the newest Apple trackpad?

Mine doesn't work. Tracking and clicking do, scrolling and gestures do not.

I have the new one and gestures don’t work for me. Seems there’s some bugs that needs fixing

That's disappointing news. I was hoping to use my newer TP 2 as soon as 13.4 was released. Hopefully Apple will have that fixed before releasing 13.4 to the public.

Just to clarify. I can two finger swipe to scroll. It’s three finger gestures that don’t work

I finally found the issue. Ever since the ipad lost the home button I have disabled multifinger gestures as I didn’t need it as I like the home bar. I had no idea this also affects the gestures on the trackpad. I enabled it and my trackpad 2 works exactly as expected. Yay

That’s BS. There’s no reason why scrolling and gestures shouldn’t work.
Oh come on. You think they did this arbitrarily? Of course there's a reason it doesn't work. I don't know what it is, but I can assure you that they did not do this just to spite Magic Trackpad 1 owners.
