>>UPDATE: RESOLVED, they fixed the web driver<<

went from 10.12.0 to 10.12.1 with GTX 980 on my 5,1 Mac Pro and it switched to the OSX driver --which is fine, but now it wont output.

Also, it did NOT fix the GT120 (or presumably any other card) from doing > 1080P resolution over HDMI

NVIDIA has a really good track record of getting a new web driver out within 24 hours of a new OS release. I'd be very surprised if there isn't a driver out overnight or tomorrow morning.

I just upgraded from a 7970, I'll know for next time :)

what's weird is that the OS X driver worked before the upgrade...

I'll add a FAQ entry that talks about this in more detail, there's information scattered all over the place. The stock Apple drivers have zero support for the Maxwell GPUs, and will usually panic the system.

Not Sierra, but 10.11.6 with Security Update today. GeForce GTX Titan X (Maxwell) working on only Apple drivers here, not very well but able to boot up at least. Update broke the NVIDIA drivers again and changing the build number to 15G1108 in the kext didn't help this time. All NVIDIA items were uninstalled so I'm running on 100% OEM Apple drivers and they're so unbelievably awful, almost worthless.

Is your card flashed? Otherwise that shouldn't be possible.

Are you sure about the OS X driver working before? The Nvidia prefpane is sometime buggy and doesn't show the actual driver being used.

It's possible it said it switched drivers and really didn't.

Updated to 10.12.1 and then the new Nvidia web driver on my 5,1 / Titan X. No issues, went even more smoothly than El Cap updates.

If you want, you can also update the thread title by clicking on the little "gear" icon at the top of the thread.
thanks! I wondered where they put that... likely several years ago.

Also, the web driver appears to have fixed the glitch others (and myself) are having with 10.12.x where HDMI wont output > 1080p.. Looks like that's fixed too! yay!
