M1 to me is showing its age on daily activities, for I feel more noticeable stutter, slowdown and freezes than when it was released back in 2020. If not because of how expensive Apple MacBook Pro is (I didn’t go for Air back then), I’d upgraded to later models already. iPad Pro M1 on the other hand, still hold strong.

The only thing I still love is the battery life. Plenty for my use case between recharge and USB-C port charging is a godsend.
Config ?

Forgot another thing: this is the only and last laptop that allows to sideload ios apps.

It is good to have my 2 factor authentication related to work requested and approved from my laptop instead of reaching or always searching my smartphone. It basically runs almost any app from my iphone.
Does something happen that from M1 Pro onwards side loading iOS apps is completely removed from macOS? Hardware lock?

I think macos is blocking the true side load after Macos 11.2.3 and m1 pro as far as i can tell were shipped with mac os 12 thus no downgrade to 11.2.3.

This is all on external(web server authentication) and internal (error popup) sides. Though if you go to app store and switch to view ios apps then you can install them on any mac - but app store selection is very limited and basically useless.

With true side load on 11.2.3 i can open any .ipa file that is signed by my appleid.

Oh you mean that. I thought some hardware change stopped iOS apps from running on macOS despite both being the same processor more or less. Yeah I was shocked back then when I realised 11.2.3 was literally the last version supporting running iOS apps freely. Heck, I even tried to run uhh Microsoft Word for iPad on it and it worked.

With that being said, Apple does not truly remove that feature from inside out. They do make it harder to use tho.

Base configuration M1 MBA here, works like a charm even after 2 years. A nice addition to my M1 Ultra Mac Studio.

If Apple had ever budged on the M1 Refurb pricing, I would have had a maxed out M1 MBA years ago

But ... alas ... even today they are still charging the same refurb pricing as 3 years ago

It's .... nuts..

Apple has dynamic pricing. This means that you can buy 12 pro for the same price as new 15. It has the best prices right when the new gen hits.

More than previous gen pricing doesn’t make sense at apple refurb and i write it off as nostalgic penalty payment - people who collect old items at above its value price.

Yes. Whoever said they would wait until M2 or M3 when the M1 first came out made a huge mistake I think.

I bought a refurbished maximum M1 over a year ago and the prices haven't dropped much.

1 TB storage and 16 GB of RAM with the 8 core graphics hardware have really done well for me. I was always buying the most PowerBook G4 or MacBook Pro and even the smallest M1 MacBook Air is better.

I'm nosy about the M3 but it's only got the start of some good abilities, such as (light) ray tracing. When they get serious, it will be worth switching to a newer machine.

Yes. I've had many intimate moments with mine and will always love her. But the M2 was just a bit younger, sleeker, and gave me intense feelings I hadn't experienced since my teenage years.

I was starting to get a little ERRRRRRed with it since I was getting a lot of beach balling while scrolling in safari. I don't what I did, but it seems to have disappeared. It's a favorite laptop 4 sure.
