dockstation without an insert can damage the iphone's connector?

hello,
i'm using very thick case that cannot be used with the original apple insert for th UNIVERSAL DOCK STATION.
it work fine without any insert (adapter?) but the phone "staying" only on the dock connector without any support from the dock itself.

its ok or it can make a damage?

If you bump it, it could possible break off the connector in the iphone.
