Does any third-party “pencil” work with iPad Pro 9.7 (pre 2018)?

As the title of this thread asks: are there any connected third-party “pencil” alternatives for owners of iPad Pro 9.7?

I am asking for personal experience here or if you know of specific products that match the criteria. I can read and I’ve been all over Amazon and the like and coming up short. The best answer I get on some products basically boils down to “maybe?”. I figured perhaps this is something people here know more about. Thankful for any help!

I bought some for my grandkids on Amazon. Granted they have 9th gens, but I’ve tried it with my pro and it works just fine. Cost $22
