I’m looking to buy a used iPhone XS 256 GB from a local seller. It’s $550 CAD and was replaced by AppleCare+ in November. The seller does not have the receipt for the original iPhone purchase, so I’m a little worried about getting a phone that could be blacklisted in the future by carrier for non-payment.
My question is: can a carrier blacklist on the original phone be carried forward to the replacement? Does Apple somehow tell the carrier that the phone has been replaced, or through some other method?
Things that somewhat assure me:
1) it’s been over 2 years since original phone purchase. Usually carrier contracts are 2 years long
2) scammer/nonpayer probably wouldn’t also buy AppleCare+
3) price is good but not “too good to be true”
