....adn What exactly is it for....? I know the geotagging and stuff use it but if i turn it off will i be unable to use maps locate me?

Does "Location Services" run down battery quicker if kept on?

i would assume, everytime you use maps. It will automatically start pin pointing your location. or when you use a camera. or etc etc.
