Trying to get one for my grandma who is currently using a 6S. The last phone with a physical home button that presses down. After that is the fake home button with the vibrate to emulate a home button push. My grandma cannot feel that vibrate so the 7,8 etc doesnt work for her.

I cant find out if this newer SE is a real home button or not. Can someone answer?

It is a haptic home button. There are three different settings for the haptic home button and one is more pronounced than the other two, maybe that would work for her?

Every home button since iPhone 7 is ‘fake’. They’re all electronic with a vibrating THUMP when you press on it.
I thought I was going to hate the haptic button but it’s actually very nice. Your grandma will like it. It’s easy to feel when set to high.

Yeah but she can’t literally use it. She keeps trying to press the corner and it doesn’t register so that’s why she’s using the 6S. She is 87 as well

The 6S/SE are the newest phones with physical buttons. Both are still usable today so you should consider having her battery replaced so that your gran can continue using her phone without issue.

I've just bought 2 brand new (sealed) iPhones SE 2022: one black for me, another one white for my wife.
After shutdown, mine still has the "click", hers not. I assume the black one has a real button (same as my black iPad mini 5 2019).

No. There is no physical button.

What makes you think apple would design a different system based on color?

Both the iPhone SE 2022 and the iPad mini 5 2019 have haptic home buttons. Neither physically moves at all.

Well, probably they have some iPhone 7 home buttons style stock left. Both iPad mini 5 and iPhone SE "clicks" after being completely shutdown-ed.
It seems, during operation the real click is supplemented by haptic one.

If you're black iphone home button clicks when powered off then you don't have an SE 2022, it's literally impossible for the home button to click on an SE 3rd Gen when it's off.

My mistake: I've just checked and both iPhones SE 2022 have haptic buttons (do not "click" when off).
Still, my iPad mini 5 2019 has mechanical one (no Settings/General/Home Button menu either).
I duly apologize!

iPads have never been given a haptic engine so no iPad has had the solid state home button..
