iPhone 15/Plus Does trading in at Apple Store count towards carrier deal for upgrade?

I did the carrier upgrade deal for T-Mobile at the Apple Store when I bought the 15P at launch. However, I was told that I needed to do the mail-in trade for my 13P since I’m doing the T-Mobile carrier upgrade deal; otherwise, I only get the $150 or whatever instant credit it was.

Looking to do another upgrade to the 15 for another line. Do I again have to mail it in or can I trade in at the store?

If you don’t mind me asking, what is the upgrade price for a base 15? I’m debating if it’s worth changing my plan.
