I want to format my old laptop 2010 with macOS.

I have old version of Mavericks 10.9.4.dmg but I could not format it format it because the command

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction

I have renamed the file from .dmg to .app but the a circle with across on the file.

Did you leave out the last part of the sentence? What happens when you run that command.

Renaming the dmg to .app will definitely not work. Is it possible it’s the type of dmg that needs to be restored to a usb key in Disk Utility? Have you tried that?
