And what do they do?? Can you safely delete them or do without them.

I found a preference pane called BlueHarvest they can be used to stop them being created ( so as not to piss of our PC using friends - because they can see them even if they're invisible to us ).

I wanted to check before using it though.

An alternative approach might be to simply complain loudly whenever you encounter a Thumbs.db :)

ugh...i hate that so much. it was my very first automator lesson...teaching myself to remove that damn thumbs.db file :mad:
