Dynamic wallpaper missing on one display?

Had a system crash an hour ago on a dual screen setup: the MBP screen is not displaying the "mojave" dynamic wallpaper and stays black.

- If I change to "dark mode" it reverts back to showing it properly. Change back to "light mode" and wallpaper once again becomes blank.
- Changing its resolution seems to help too.

Any ideas?
