I don't use e-books much, but I have some. I'm not happy with the Kindle software or the Kindle Paperwhite for that matter. Neither works very well, and I don't want to support Amazon or let Amazon spy on me.
I've been defaulting to Calibre, which is just OK. I find it fussy and counterintuitive.
I wondered if something better has come along.
