Did the 192.168.1.1/zCfg thingy, modem works fine.

No connection to the net, though.

If you have it, what did tech support tell you about the manual setup? What did you enter into each Network pane.

Maybe what you did will help me (and others).

Actually, PPPOE is the problem. Though the zCfg has the word PPPOE in the URL, that's not the panel that gets touched.

Talking to an Earthlink tech, they say the Ethernet panel should be set to Automatically, the Proxy panel should have Web Proxy clicked, with the server name as 127.0.0.1 and a value of 8090, ignore the PPPOE panel, and the TCP/IP has all the action:

Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
DNS Servers: 207.69.188.185, 207.69.188.186, 207.69.188.187
Search Domains: earthlink.net

Voila! A connection is made!

Now all I have to do is figure Airport and I'll be done.
