HI, sorry if this has been beaten to death: shots from my iPhone 12 Pro look as shot in Photos on my MBP until I hit "edit" - then, a perfectly balanced and exposed shot gets crazy contrasty and almost impossible to bring back to its original normalcy. Knowing this, I started doubling images before attempting to edit, but now I noticed that an image that I double also gets converted to a completely ugly state, making doubles into duds without even me trying.

Editing in Photos makes iPhone shots look horrible
