Error message: Bluetooth 4.0 is not supported on this Mac

Whenever I boot up my MacBook Pro (see my siggy) which has Catalina installed I get this message:

"Bluetooth 4.0 is not supported on this Mac".

Am I getting this message because I have previously paired a Bluetooth 4.0 peripheral? How do I know which peripherals I have that are Bluetooth 4.0?
