Hi everyone,

I just got an Eve Energy smart plug which connects over BLE. The plug gets used in the attic. 2 stores lower, on the first floor, I have an Apple TV 4K.

To my big surprise I found out that I can control my plug all the way from the first floor. Now of course that’s great but I’d like to understand why that’s even possible because afaik BLE can’t usually get through 2 ceiling walls. Is it perhaps possible that my Hue lights in the attic act as a repeater? I know that they act as a repeater for themselves but I don’t know if it’s possible that they also act as a repeater for BLE for devices of another manufacturer.

Thanks and best wishes
Chris

You’ll probably find it’s the BLE directly from the Apple TV. It’s only a few metres between them and unless your ceilings are dense/concrete, BLE will get through okay.
