Resolved External display no longer working

I have had my Macbook Air connected to an external monitor with no problems at all when closed. Today it has decided to disconnect a few seconds after closing the macbook. Only way it stays on is if I leave it open.

Have tried 3 different cables with the same results.

Any ideas?

Edit: This can be deleted - issue solved.
