Can you say Chi-City??
The other day I believe I ejected my Lacie 250GB external and then disconnected it from my Powerbook's USB port before it had fully unmounted. Now, it seems that the USB port it was plugged into does not work anymore and the harddrive is significantly slower. It takes longer to mount, it takes longer to transfer to, and it takes longer to transfer from. No data seems to have been affected however.

Could this be a problem purely with the power supply of the drive and/or is there anyway I could self diagnosis this? What options do I have to save this drive (which contains, for the most part, my iTunes library)?

I would suggest you plug it in again then run disk utility and verify the disk. I have a feeling it will turn up errors so just repair the drive and everything should be back to normal. Also check the SMART status while your in disk utility.
