I get it that sometimes, apps are still using files which you deleted, therefore can't empty the trash.

My question is, WHY is the app still using the file? In my particular case, they are video files opened in Quicktime X. Not all video files, just some (don't know what the difference is, they are all mp4's).

So I don't quite QT, but I do stop the playback, and close the video window. But WHY is QT still "using" the file? HOW is it still using the file? And how do I prevent this from happening to some files? It's a complete nuisance to constantly having to quit QT for random video files you want to delete but can't because QT is still "using" it.

Again, doesn't happen to all video files I open in QT X and want to delete. Please note, this has started happening more frequently in the last week. And I haven't done anything new or different on my Mac.
