This issue has got to be something that I am overlooking, as it is such a basic task... Upon searching for files with Finder, the list of found items cannot be deleted.

Discovered this when attempting to search all drives for .BAK files. Finder locates many .BAK files, but when they are selected, the file deletion options are dimmed/unavailable... IE the main menu option, File -- Move to Trash, is grayed out, and the shortcut keys for Delete don't do anything. They can't even be deleted one by one from the results window.

Attempting to drag a group of 53 such files to the Trash results in the error, "53 items can't be moved to the Trash because they can't be deleted."

WTF... are files protected somewhere, and if so, how to free them up so I can clean up? I would like to do this with, say, movies and other large files.
