I lightly caught my new modern buckle with my nail, when putting it on today, and it left a scratch in the material.

This material is not durable at all.

Would you keep it, or return it?

I wouldn't buy another one, I'd just get my money back.

Return it, It's been widely documented that fine woven is absolute garbage... Huge misstep by Apple and I wouldn't be surprised if they quietly get rid of it in September when they release new products.
