I'm thinking about increasing my puny 20 Gig hard drive with a fire wire external HD.

My problem is that we do stop motion animation on the system and keep a video camera hooked up to our Mac G4 through the fire wire port all the time.

Do I have to add another fire wire port, can I multiplex the existing port, or is there a better solution.

Regards,

Chuck

you should be able to daisy chain the camera to the drive. I have done that with my MiniDV > Ext HD > Ext HD > Mac.

I've done this before too, and it's worked fine. So you shouldn't need any extra port... just make sure your external hard drive has at least 2 firewire ports (probably almost all of them do).
